The average boiler lasts around 15 years if well maintained and although a yearly service can improve the lifespan, an older boiler has to work harder to heat your home.

How many KW boiler do I need?

This depends on the number of radiators you have. Up to 10 radiators: 24–27 kW. 10 to 15 radiators: 28–34 kW. 15 to 20 radiators: 32–40 kW. Up to 10 radiators: 12–15 kW

What’s the difference between a system and standard boilers

System boilers heat your radiators and store hot water in a storage cylinder. They're normally installed in an airing cupboard or garage. Standard boilers store hot water in a storage cylinder, like System boilers but they're supplied by a separate cold water tank – usually in the loft.

Why do boilers make noise?

The most usual cause of boiler kettling is due to accumulating limescale on the boiler's heat exchanger. Consequently, water can become trapped in the boiler's heat exchanger, overheating, generating steam, and expanding. The whistling noise is a consequence of this process.
